This month I was asked to take some shots of Indie Divaz @ Vivaz in Scarborough. It's been long time since I've been to this venue and it hasn't changed a bit, (not sure if that's good or bad).

 

Stray Scene headlined, this time with a new guitarist - Elijah Wilsher who previously played with What Would Chuck Do? Other bands included Spitfires and Lee Major.

The 'Aurora' isn't something you see every year in Sherburn, near Scarborough. Hardly visible by the naked eye, but 30 seconds exposure and there you have it.

 

The 3rd of December was the last night for Sandblast this year up at the Scarborough Uni campus. ' Mausi' were a perfect way to finish off 2011, their video for 'Sol' can be viewed over on YouTube. Support came from Scarborough band ' Dirt Appeal'.

Last Saturday I had my first taste of the Sandblast gigs up at the Scarborough Uni campus. I'm not sure why I haven't caught on to these events any sooner, but let me tell you, it's worth the walk. The guys at Sound and Music seriously push everything they've got to put on a decent night, it's just a shame that not many people come up to take a look! Last weekend's bands were Diastima, The Andy Walker Experience and Club Smith, who are set to be supporting Kaiser Chiefs on their tour in January.

Josh Giddings is fast becoming a well known singer/songwriter in Scarborough. He's often seen performing at the various open mic nights around the town, as well as hosting his own on a Thursday night at the Turks Head, Eastborough. Lately I've heard he's been out and about busking in cities around the north, so like / follow and what have you to keep up to date!

A week or so ago Charlie and I met up with him on a cold, miserable afternoon to capture a few snaps for his social media and press kit ...

 

Wahey! I've finally done it, graduated from university with a degree in commercial photography. It feels like it's taken me ages to get to this point as I've taken a few diversions along the way, but that's it, 20 years of formal education has come to an end. Big thanks to Terry and all the other lecturers over at G.I.F.H.E for all their support over the past 3 years.

 

A few frames with Scarborough band Stray Scene in their practice room close to the town. It was nice to finally talk to these guys, apparently they're very close to be signed, if not already. They're currently in the studio's so keep your ears peeled for some new tracks.
